Final Project
2 ideas for Final Project
The first concept is a reflection upon the waste from the market with a focus on the mass production and pollution caused by excess food packages. I want to create a gallery space for the final presentation and the actual piece will be constructed with food packages and standard oil painting set. First I will collect food packages and either glue or sew them together into a big piece. This piece then becomes the canvas as well as the subject matter of the painting. The big piece will be stretched and stapled to a frame made with stretcher bars (approximately 72*48 in.) The piece will then be hung on a wall with spotlight project on it.
I decide to call this piece a still life and a landscape, which is an irony because the piece itself is just a bunch of trash put together. There is also a discussion between trash and beauty. There is an artist reference to Rauschenberg and his installation composition.
For the second idea, I would like to create an abstract painting or sculpture or installation with molecular cuisine. This is to work with the value and beauty of food. In addition, there is also a connection with the color studies, which I have expressed interest in the midterm self-portrait.
I like this idea with molecular cuisine. However, I don't have a solid idea yet because I am not sure about the qualities and characteristics of molecular cuisine. I might have a clearer thought after this weeks learning.
